HOW TO LEAVE A PLANNED
GIFT
What is the

What is the purpose of
planned giving?
Who can help me
arrange for a gift?
If you have a professional you are
working with, like a financial planner, lawyer, or accountant, please talk
with them about leaving a gift. A professional can tell you about the tax
benefits of planned gifts. You can also call Greg Vranicar at the Diocese,
who will be able to assist you. You can learn more about Planned Giving
through the diocese web page at
www.diocese-kcsj.org.
Do I tell the
church I have left a gift?
This is up to you. If Coronation of
Our Lady Catholic Church knew in advance, they could recognize your
generosity. They could also assist in letting you know about specific
opportunities for giving. Whether you let them know of your plans or not,
is your decision to make.
How do I take the
first step?
Think about the purpose for making
your gift. You may want to make a gift for general purposes, or for some
specific purpose within the Church’s mission. If you need help to learn
more about specific purposes, you should call the Church.
Contact your professional advisor
for help. If you do not have a professional advisor, call Greg Vranicar at
the Diocese. He has access to many resources that may assist you. His
number is 816-756-1850 ext. 529.
Also, watch for opportunities to
attend Planned Giving seminars. Coronation of Our Lady will be offering
information on these periodically for your convenience.
For more information, visit with Fr.
Rotert or one of the members of the Development Council. The members are
Don Perkins, Frank Bader, Bill Bergman, Norma
Brower, Mollie Lannigan and Karen Storck.
What is the Coronation Development Council?
What is the purpose of planned giving?
Coronation of Our Lady Development
Council is an organization of dedicated parishioners. Our council
exists in tandem with the Parish Council to promote Stewardship and
Development ideals within our Parish. We are built upon the twin tenets of:
Stewardship – This is a
“spiritual consciousness of lifestyle, not a program,
based in Scripture which holds that all
we are and all we have flows from
God’s manifold grace. In turn, we serve
as spiritual caretaker of our spiritual
and worldly blessings.”
Development – This is “a
management strategy that allows our Parish to
attain our goals through a program of
visioning, planning, public relations
and charitable giving concept.”
Potential Focus Areas
– Sacrificial Giving,
Major Gifts, Stewardship Education, Planned Giving, Public Relations/Donor
Relationships, Parish and Diocesan Annual Appeals and Memorials.
Vision – Mission Statement
Coronation of Our Lady Development Council is a
continuous spiritual
consciousness that will be an
inherent part of our long–term stewardship
program. Through our spiritual and
sacrificial giving, we are the caretakers
of God’s gifts.
Our stewardship strategies will focus
on visioning, planning, public relations,
directed actions and continuous
evaluation to attain our goal and lead to
responsible parish accountability.
PURPOSE FOR PLANNED GIVING
Based upon the concept of Stewardship: “Like
good stewards of the manifold grace of God, serve one another with whatever
gift each of you has received.” I Peter 4:10
Thus, Stewardship is based upon two principles: 1)
The call to give from the Lord and 2) The need of the Lord within His
Parish.
This call comes from the Lord:
“Give and it shall be given to you…the measure
you measure with will be measured back to you.” Luke 6:38.
“He who sows sparingly will reap sparingly, and
he who sows bountifully will reap bountifully. Everyone must give according
to what he has inwardly decided, not sadly, not grudgingly, for God loves a
cheerful giver.” II Cor. 9:6-8
The need of the Lord within His Parish:
The Parish is the Body of Christ and the worship and
services of the Parish are aimed for the greater honor and glory of God.
When we are stewards of our time, talent, and tithe, we are part of the
outreach to the Lord in prayer and part of the Lord’s outreach to people.
A planned gift may help Coronation of Our Lady
Catholic Church continue to provide services to the Parish and community.
It may also be directed to certain other projects not currently affordable
such as:
New sign for the Church
entrance
Baby grand piano
The rest of the parking
lot rebuilt
Improved sound system
New microphones and mixer
Additional staff to help
with the elderly, food pantry, etc.
