COOL HIGH SCHOOL YOUTH!!!
Welcome Graduating Eighth Graders!!! You made it! Eight years down and only
a bunch to go! (Well, let's not worry about those!) Now that you are a new ninth
grader, you can come
to our high school activities back here at the Coronation ranch.
Being a
freshman puts you in a unique
place because, throughout your ninth grade year, you can take part in the high
school AND the junior
high program (which is only during the school year.) That way you get the best
of both worlds.
From
now on, you'll receive one of these wonderful works of art each month which we
call the monthly
mailing. It'll let you know what's going on throughout the year.
If you EVER
have questions about
any of the activities listed, just call Ken in the Youth Office anytime
(761-8811) or at home
(537-8877).
Check the bulletin each Sunday for last minute changes.
Harvesters and Holy Family House!!!
|
|
|
Each
month, we have two service projects which help the hungry. At Harvesters
we help sort and repackage food which will go to food pantries and soup
kitchens. At Holy Family Catholic Worker House, we serve meals to about. 200
needy folks. (It's a soup kitchen.)
Sign ups are not required for Harvesters but ARE for Holy Family. |
Our
youth ministry strives to meet the relational, spiritual, and emotional
needs of our youth, grades 7 through 12. Seasonal ministry for college
age and adults is also provided.
High school ministry
Each
Sunday, there are activities scheduled for high school youth. A variety
of activities includes: youth evenings (which deal with topics of faith
and personal growth), rallies, dances, inter-parish softball and
volleyball leagues, trips to local attractions, etc.. Special annual
events include a June canoe trip, a lock-in retreat, weekend retreat,
sports lock-in at Williams Jewel College, and a week long mission trip
to Appalachia. Monthly service projects are also scheduled.
Tuesday Morning Prayer Breakfast!!!
Every Tuesday, including the summer months, we gather in the Youth
Office (rectory basement) for Holt's doughnuts, a few laughs, Holt's
doughnuts, shared prayer, and Holt's doughnuts. We've been carrying on
this little tradition for over twenty-one years. (That's a lot of doughnuts!)
Join us from 6:45-7:15 each Tuesday. After prayer, hang out in the Youth
Office for a while-maybe playa little fooseball! Rides home are
available.
Confirming faith
Confirming
faith is our confirmation preparation program. Through this program, a
participant is immersed in the ongoing life of the high school youth
community. Any youth entering grades 10 through 12 is welcome to join
Confirming Faith and receive the sacrament of confirmation.
Junior high
Junior
high youth gather each second, fourth, and fifth Wednesdays. Topics of
faith and personal growth are explored most evenings, interspersed with
community building activities (miniature golf, hay ride, etc.) and
service opportunities. Most Wednesdays, the time for junior high is 7:00
through 9:00 p.m. with the gym open at 6:30.
Ninth graders
Ninth
graders are offered a unique opportunity to be active in both high
school and junior high activities.
About making Reservations
| Even if an activity says
"reservations required," don't hesitate to call Ken if you're able to go at the
last minute.. It's possible someone else has cancelled out and we'll have an
extra spot. It never hurts to ask! |
Parents & Guardians!!!
You're always welcome to come check out any youth
activity. Please consider providing transportation when you see the request made
in these mailings or
in the parish bulletin. Even if your son/daughter is not coming on an activity,
we can still use your help. Call Ken
to volunteer. .
