The opportunity to serve at liturgies is a privilege for
any young person who feels called to do so. Boys and
girls who have reached 5th grade are eligible to serve;
we encourage them to remain in the program through high
school. Training is held each fall and the dates are
announced in the parish bulletin. Contact the Parish
Office or Father Rotert if interested.
When planning the environment & art for the liturgical
season, the focus is on the physical surroundings for
worship. The areas of worship space, the furnishings and
other objects are arranged to help you enter into the
season’s prayer. Anyone interested in assisting with
this ministry may call the parish office or Father
Rotert.
Eucharistic ministers are men and women of the parish
who assist with the distribution of the Holy Eucharist
both at Masses and for the sick and shut-ins of the
parish.
Eucharistic ministers must be at least 16 years of age
and have received the Sacrament of Confirmation. They
must attend a training program sponsored by the Diocese.
Training sessions are announced in the bulletin. Contact
the Parish Office for more information.
Hosts and Hostesses assist in bringing together the
people that make the Sunday Liturgy possible. They check
to see that the various ministers who are assigned for
the Mass are present; they recruit a family for the
Offertory Procession; and they assist with any special
ceremonies that are part of a particular liturgy.
Contact the Parish Office for information in
participating in this ministry
Young children have a right to hear God’s Word
proclaimed in a way that they can understand. At 10:30
AM Mass each Sunday, the children leave after the
Opening Prayer to go to another room for the Liturgy of
the Word. They return after the Homily. This program is
for children Kindergarten through 6th grade. We are
always looking for more adult volunteers to assist with
this ministry. Cathie Echterling coordinates this
program.
Anyone who enjoys singing or playing a musical
instrument is encouraged to join the music ministry of
the parish. You might choose to join the choir or to
take the role of song leader, or musician. Carol
Feuerborn is the Music Director.
Lectors proclaim the Word of God at
all parish liturgies; Commentators read the Prayer of
the Faithful. Training is provided by the diocese and
required. Training sessions will be published in the
bulletin. Contact the Parish Office or Father Rotert for
information.
Ushers serve on Sundays and Holy
Days, performing a number of duties during the Mass,
including the greeting and proper seating of the people,
taking up the collections, and organizing the Offertory
procession. Duane Fortin coordinates this program.
